A visit from the crochet angel!

Suddenly out of the blue has arrived the urge to crochet! At 9am this morning I was outside the library waiting for it to open so that I could raid the shelves for books on 'how to crochet with the minimum of effort' sadly no such book exists and,as I subsequently found, it takes an enormous amount of effort! poor Carolyn, I arrived at work with crochet hooks, wool and a beginners guide for us both to get started on as thursdays are to become 'crochet thursdays' the only day of the week we work together in the same shop. Well, we were raring to go with visions of huge Cath Kidstonesque blankets festooning our homes after a few basics, off we started but the first hitch was reading the drawings, the second was we seemed to have too many fingers , how could that be? our NVQ in crochet (not very quick in our case!) was very short lived. However, later on that day I had a customer buying lots of fabric and buttons and casually asked her with a sidelong glance if she knew how to crochet? 'yes' she replied 'I've just finished a blanket', well I'm sure I heard a chorus of angelic voices and I was indeedy being visited by the crochet angel! In no time she had unravelled my pathetic attempt and set me off again with her angelic words of wisdom. How wonderful was that! So pleease drop into the Scaborough shop on a thursday anybody out there who can crochet we need all the help we can get and the crochet angel might be busy!

Hi Ladies!
I feel your pain!!!
as an avid knitter for many years, I really wanted to try my hand at crochet and searched amazon and local bookshops for something easy to do but alas nothing! I turned my direction to the web and hurray!I found lots of good tutorials on you tube and also found Lucy's blog (http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog) also a really good place to start! Now that I have a bit of confidence in myself I am actually getting quite good! (even if I do say so myself!!!)
Keep at it, you will get it in the end!
